The Modern Heritage Observatory (MoHO) is a network of institutions and individuals from the Middle East and North Africa founded in 2012, working for the preservation of the region’s modern cultural heritage. We focus on photography, music, architecture and film.

Casamémoire: Le Mag

Créée en 1995, Casamémoire est une association marocaine à but non lucratif de sauvegarde du patrimoine architectural du XXe siècle au Maroc. Elle a vu le jour suite à la démolition de la villa Mokri de l’architecte Marius Boyer. Elle regroupe des membres réunis autour de valeurs communes : préservation de la spécificité de Casablanca, valorisation du patrimoine architectural, du tourisme culturel et de la mémoire collective.

Art and Archives: Cologne-Beirut Residency Program

 

DATE OF RESIDENCY: 

April 1 – June 30, 2015 (three months)

 

SERVICES PROVIDED: 

Accommodation in Cologne, Germany

Round-trip air transportation

Scholarship valued at USD$4,995 (paid in installments based on the scholarship contract)

Language assistance in Cologne to facilitate archive research

Visa fees and compulsory health insurance are not covered (applicants must apply individually for the visa; with help from the residency organizers).

Fundamentalists and Other Arab Modernisms is an exploration of the links between colonialism, fundamentalism and modernity across the Arab World, in an effort to understand the links between each of these movements and their relation to the architecture of the time. Visit archival institutions and learn how they help us understand our past and present. All over the world, and for the second time in Lebanon, archivists join together on 7, 8, 9 of June to allow the general public, the chance to discover the unique heritage of these institutions. It will be celebrated by all partnering institutions opening their doors to the public, offering guided tours and displaying examples from their collections.
